Ege Tekinbas is the IGF’s Senior Policy Advisor for Gender Equality and Social Inclusion, where she leads work to embed gender equality and social inclusion in mining governance—supporting governments with policy design, frameworks and guidance, and targeted capacity building. She brings more than 20 years of experience in gender equality, women’s empowerment, prevention of violence against women, and social development, including roles with UN Women, the World Bank, the European Union, and the Council of Europe.
Ege has authored and contributed to flagship publications that help translate gender commitments into practical mining policy and oversight, including Gender in Mining Governance: Opportunities for Policy-Makers (2021), Global Review: Integrating Gender Into Mining Impact Assessments (2022), and Women and the Mine of the Future (2023). She also co-authored the chapter “Unveiling gender dynamics for inclusive mining governance” in the Routledge volume Sustainable Mining Governance: Social, Environmental and Political Discussions (2026).
A frequent moderator and speaker, Ege contributes to high-level dialogues bridging policy, industry, and civil society, including Mining Indaba, the OECD Forum on Responsible Mineral Supply Chains, Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) and PDAC. She is based in Ottawa, Canada, and is fluent in English, Spanish, and Turkish.
