About the event
Growing demand for critical minerals is creating unprecedented potential for financial benefits across mineral-rich countries in the Global South. However, revenue leakage continues to drain vital public resources.
To mark the launch of a new deep dive analysis on base erosion and profit shifting in mining, to be released end of September, the IGF is hosting a webinar mapping the main sources of tax avoidance in mining and sharing practical solutions for resource-rich countries to safeguard mining revenues during the critical minerals boom.
Drawing over a decade of hands-on work alongside governments, tax administrations, and international partners, the session will share examples of how countries across Africa, Asia, and Latin America are building expertise in combatting tax avoidance, designing and enforcing efficient fiscal strategies, and concretely securing fair revenues.
As momentum builds toward October’s EITI 2026 Global Conference in Brussels and the the IGF’s Annual General Meeting, this webinar offers an early look at one of the main challenges facing resource-rich countries today.
