The Intergovernmental Forum on Mining, Minerals, Metals and Sustainable Development (IGF), the World Bank, World Economic Forum (WEF) and the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) co-hosted a Sustainability Forum on the sidelines of the 2018 PDAC Convention on Saturday, March 3, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m, in Toronto, Canada. This Sustainability Forum discussed the important role that minerals and metals will play in the mining sector to help shift to a low-carbon economy. Read the meeting report online.

The event opened with a panel discussion introducing the topic. Participants then had the opportunity to separate into roundtable discussions focused on exploring the theme in depth. This included topics such as mineral and metal demand, implications for resource rich countries, clean technology, innovation, carbon footprints and responsible supply chains.
