Event Details

Mining can contribute to inclusive, gender-equitable socioeconomic development for communities in a sustainable manner. To be successful, though, effective collaboration between parties, such as the private sector, local governments and civil society, is needed, as are national policies enabling local development.

This workshop, hosted by the Devonshire Initiative and the Federation of Canadian Municipalities, explores how local-level collaboration between companies, governments and civil society can support inclusive socioeconomic development. During the workshop, participants will discuss key success factors for working with local governments in Canada and abroad.

We will be presenting our work on local content policies for sustainable development, as well as exploring challenges and prerequisites for successful local content policies and the various roles local governments, mining companies and civil society can play in supporting them.
