Resource Governance and Social Progress Workshop

Training Details
Date:
November 19, 2020

We are hosting a virtual consultation workshop on November 19, 2020, in partnership with the International Council on Mining and Metals (ICMM) to discuss the preliminary findings of their research on resource governance and social progress.

This research builds on the 2018 report, Social Progress in Mining-Dependent Countries. The new research aims to deepen the analysis of the previous report while considering the impact of the quality of resource governance in mining-dependent countries on social and economic progress. The 2018 socioeconomic index will be updated accordingly, and the research will undertake a quantitative analysis of the linkages between resource governance and social progress using the Natural Resource Governance Institute’s (NRGI) Resource Governance Index (RGI) and case studies to support findings.

This invite-only workshop will enable peer-to-peer discussion to reflect on the preliminary findings, allow experts to share their views, and provide an overall stronger final report to support sustainable development in mining.
