Peter Kapr Bangura is the Director of Mines at Sierra Leone's National Minerals Agency (NMA), where he provides strategic leadership for the nation's mineral resource management and regulatory framework. An accomplished mining engineer with a distinguished academic background, he holds a first-class bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone, a master's degree in mining engineering (with distinction) from the University of Exeter's world-renowned Camborne School of Mines, and a Master of Public Policy from the Blavatnik School of Government, University of Oxford.
Peter oversees the Licensing & Mining Cadastre and Compliance units (including Environment Health & Safety and Marine Draft Surveys) within the Mines Directorate, and he is the NMA’s lead representative in negotiating large-scale mining agreements. His expertise bridges the technical and policy spheres, ensuring the sustainable and transparent development of Sierra Leone's mining sector.
Peter is a professional member of the Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, the Sierra Leone Institute of Engineers, and the Camborne School of Mines Association.
