Tracking the Hidden Gold: Addressing illicit financial flows in ASGM

About the event

Gold remains one of Africa’s most valuable mineral resources, yet significant volumes leave the continent through informal and illegal channels. These illicit flows deprive governments of critical revenues, undermine good governance, and can finance conflict.

Building on its 2022 report Illicit Financial Flows and Conflict in Artisanal and Small-Scale Gold Mining: Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger, the Intergovernmental Forum on Mining, Minerals, Metals and Sustainable Development (IGF) convened  this webinar to spotlight recent research and practical approaches to address these challenges.
