Dione Macedo

Dione Macedo has vast experience in the geoscience, social, and environmental fields, particularly in research, mapping, and prospecting for gold and in artisanal and small-scale mining in Brazil. She joined the Department of Geology, Mining and Mineral Processing of the Ministry of Mines and Energy in 2007 and is currently General Coordinator and Substitute Director of Sustainable Development in Mining. Dione has been engaged in various aspects of mining, such as policy formulation, performing technical tasks, and cooperating with foreign agencies on mining-related issues. She also participates in some teaching activities on sustainable development and mining and has carried out studies on certification schemes in mining. She holds positions in various social and environmental sustainability forums, including Brazil’s National Council of the Environment. Dione holds a bachelor’s degree in geology, a master’s degree in mining and territorial ordering, and a doctorate in strategies for mining sustainability from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul.

Executive Committee

The Chair, five Vice-Chairs and the Director of the Secretariat (as an ex officio member), constitute the Executive Committee, which is the executive body of the IGF. The Chair and Vice-Chairs sit as representatives of their Member States.
