This assessment report examines Mexico’s mining laws and policies and makes recommendations for policy reform and improvement.<\/p>\n

The Mexican mining sector is large, diverse, and well established. Mexico leads the world in silver production and is a top-10 producer of 17 minerals. The government manages 24,000 mining concessions.<\/p>\n

This assessment and report were completed the request of the Mexican government to assesses the country\u2019s preparedness and capacity to implement the IGF\u2019s Mining Policy Framework<\/a> (MPF), focusing on six key mining policy areas.<\/p>\n

The IGF assessment team reviewed mining laws, policies, and contracts and visited the country to conduct interviews and field visits.
